A swimming pool should be surrounded by at least a four-foot wide, nonskid surface in good repair, free of tears or breaks (1).
RATIONALE
This standard is to prevent slipping and injury of children and adults and to allow supervising caregivers/teachers to walk around all sides of the pool.
